When Katherine becomes regent, she thinks "My enemy's enemy is my friend." In what ways do you see this sentiment playing out in the Tudor court? Are there any allegiances that were surprising to you?

In court one must know everything that is going on. One cannot even think something that may be different than what is tolerated. Katherine attempted to stay fairly close to everyone she could. Appearances is everything in court. Katherine tried to keep the wives close to her, so she would be aware of happenings and possible problems.

In a world where false friends abound, Katherine is shrewd enough to understand that she is better off trusting a so-called friend's enemy. Part of this is one of the "gambits" she employs to quite literally keep her head.
