Was the Khmer Rouge really called The Organization?

I wonder because later in the novel the people were afraid of all organizations, even helpful ones. I looked on the internet and didn't find an answer. Does anyone know?

Knowing very little about the 'actual facts' of what The Organization was or wasn't I chose to think of this as an allegory for 'fear'---The Organization couldn't have been a tight network of information as that type of communication didn't exist to any extent in Cambodia during that time period---rather it was a 'POWER' that could not be visualized, named, did not have a face, but was all knowing ('you must obey The Organization'...). Even the so-called leaders of the Khmer Rouge were 'enemies' of The Organization if it was convenient....

To build off Christy's comment, in the text, I thought that calling it The Organization worked to enhance the dehumanization of the people--they were not controlled by other People but by an entity.
