How do you think Christine changed over the course of the novel? What differences do you see in Christine and Maria? Heinrich and Karl?

RE: How do you think Christine changed over the course of the novel?

In the beginning, she was a young girl in love with Issac. She saw nothing wrong with the fact that he was a Jew. I don't think she ever saw anything wrong with that! She changed quite a bit during the novel, going from a young, idealistic, not so informed girl to a woman who was aware of what was happening in Germany, what the Nazis were doing...and experiencing it. She left her "comfort" zone when it came to Stefan and went to the Americans and stood behind her story! She was a much stronger person!!
