What other graphic novels would you recommend.

I love graphic novels and I'm always interested in reading new authors and genres. Are there any graphic novels you love and would recommend? Inquiring minds want to know about them. Thanks.

I would recommend Maus I and II. Spiegalman is a master and responsible for the rise of graphic novels as a form of literature.

Fun House

Really good graphic novel by Allison Bechdel. I am curious if anyone read Blue is the Warmest Color.

Many years ago I read Persepholis, http://amzn.to/1nXQDM6, which is a memoir in graphic novel format. I was pretty impressed with it.

I am a newbie to graphic novels, but I thought Chris Ware's "Building Stories" was an interesting experience. I say "experience" rather than "read", since it is not a linear novel. It is made up if 14 or so different pieces - strips, golden book-style book, newspaper, game board- style storyboard. There are no instructions about in what order to read the pieces, so you create your own version of the story based on how you choose to read the pieces. My favorite was a booklet of strips that had no words, just pictures of everyday life moments.

SIN CITY is the first that I read and fell in love with graphic novels. Now, I am reading The Walking Dead series and I am not disappointed.

Agree with N*Starr - Fun House is a great graphic novel. Read in the newspaper today that the author is at the center of controversy in SC because of the part of the book on homosexuality. Intolerance always makes me sad.

I greatly enjoyed Fun House and Maus (to a lesser extent). I really disliked Habibi by Craig Thompson as it was very heavy on sexual violence.

Stitches - David Small
Persepolis - Marjane Satrapi
Saga - Brian K. Vaughn
Y: The Last Man - Brian K. Vaughn

Stitches in particular is a great one to give to an older person who thinks GNs aren't "real books." I had my book group (which is mainly made up of retired men and women) read it and they liked it. Persepolis is also a good "let me introduce you to graphic novels for adults" choice, as are all of Satrapi's work.

The Impostor's Daughter by Laurie Sandell stands out in my mind.
Good Eggs by Phoebe Potts is also very good.
