If this book were to be made into a movie, who would you like to see playing the role of Charlie Beale? Sylvan Glass?

Ryan Gosling gets my vote for Charlie Beale :) Sylan is more difficult. Maybe Scarlet Johannsen or even Reese Witherspoon?

I think Channing Tatum would be a good Charlie Beale, he has the muscles to pull off having been in the service and a butcher. Sylvan is a little harder to cast, maybe Keira Knightley, she can be strong yet vulnerable at the same time.

I have no idea. I generally do not care for books that are made into movies.

This question is difficult for me. I am not a TV watcher nor a movie goer. I don't have knowledge of the latest actors and actresses. If I had to say, I would say to the studio, "choose unknown actors."

Usually I am not one for my favorite books made into movies but for some reason, this book had such vivid imagery (the small town right after World War II) that I really would like to see it made into a movie. I agree that the female lead would be much more difficult to cast.

I think they should find unknowns for these two roles, and keep them exactly as they are described in the book. Have NO really popular actors! :) That would take something away from the story.

I have to agree with Penny; I am usually disappointed with movie versions.

I think it would be very difficult to make this book into a movie because so much is the writing. His style is so distinctive and, for me, it really captivated me and made me want to keep reading. He sets a mood and atmosphere that would be hard to replicate on film.
