The Penderwicks on Gardam Street Summary

The Penderwick Sisters are home on Gardam Street and ready for an adventure! But the adventure they get isn’t quite what they had in mind. Mr. Penderwick’s sister has decided it’s time for him to start dating—and the girls know that can only mean one thing: disaster. Enter the Save-Daddy Plan—a plot so brilliant, so bold, so funny, that only the Penderwick girls could have come up with it. It’s high jinks, big laughs, and loads of family warmth as the Penderwicks triumphantly return.

"The rest of the story is a pleasant ramble of a read, replete with well-intentioned scheming, adolescent crushes, horrible homework disasters, soccer, secrets, school dances and lots and lots of literary allusion.... " - Kirkus Reviews.

Although I first decided to become a writer when I was ten years old, it took me until I was forty-one to get started. In the years in between, I had many strange jobs to support myself, and also worked hard as a photographer, the kind that makes art. Some of my photographs are included in the permanent collections of museums, including the Smithsonian and...
