Matekoni--Mma Ramotswe's estimable husband--has fallen under the sway of a doctor who has promised a miracle cure for his daughter's medical condition, which Mma Ramotswe finds hard to believe. But Precious Ramotswe deals with these difficulties with her usual grace and good humor, and in the end discovers that the biggest miracles in life are often the small ones.

A couple of years back, Alexander McCall Smith stated that he planned to stop the series after 8 books, but here is number 9 - which should give fans of this much loved series hope that we will be hearing more from Mma Ramotswe in future years. If nothing else, we will be seeing Mma Ramotse on the silver screen soon, when HBO's 13-part No.1 Ladies Detective Agency series is broadcast
next year.
